WTA Semi finals

• Yafan Wang v Donna Vekic (3)

Vekic began in a rush in the opening set, winning 75% of points on her first serve, hitting five aces, and tearing into the Chinese serve, winning 14 of the 22 points available there.  Although she dropped her own serve once, Vekic converted three chances on the Wang delivery and easily won the set 6-2.

No one could hold serve in set two, except Yafan Wang who managed it once.  Wang won a pitiful 35% of points on her serve, Vekic an even worse 27%.

In one of the worst displays of serving seen at this level for some time, Wang took the set 6-3 and a decider was required.

A quick repair job was undertaken on the Wang service before the commencement of set three, but not so for the damaged Vekic version.

Wang sailed through, not facing a break point, but smashing the Croatian twice from four chances.

Yafan Wang was victorious 2-6 6-3 6-1
