Rune wins Paris Masters

Final day in Paris.

2022 Rolex Paris Masters, an ATP Masters 1000 tournament, on Hard Indoor, in Paris, France, 31 October - 6 November 2022.

Defending champion:
Novak Djokovic (1) who defeated Daniil Medvedev (2) 4-6 6-3 6-3.

Final:

Holger Rune (Denmark) v Novak Djokovic (6) (Serbia)

Djokovic won all three previous meetings between the pair, including the most recent - semi final in Rome this year.

In the final, Djokovic served first and was taken to deuce before holding,
Rune served at 1-2 and was broken.

Neither player was taken to deuce for the remainder of set one, and Djokovic served it out 6-3.

In set two, Rune was down 0-40 in the opening game, but managed to hold serve.
He then broke Djokovic to lead 2-0.
No further break points were faced in the set, and Rune levelled at 3-6 6-3.

The players exchanged service breaks in games four and five in the decider, and Djokovic led 3-2.
Djokovic served at 5-5 and was broken.

Serving for the match, Rune saved five break back points, then Djokovic saved a match point.
Rune saved a sixth break point, then converted a second match point to finish off proceedings 3-6 6-3 7-5.

In without a doubt his finest career achievement to date, Holger Rune defeated the best player in the world to claim the Rolex Paris Masters title.
At only 19, Rune now has 3 titles from 5 finals, all this year, and is a top ten player.
