Serena wins in Auckland, Serbia takes ATP Cup

The WTA singles and doubles finals were decided in Auckland, and the ATP Cup was won in Sydney.


2020 ASB Classic - a WTA International tournament, on Hard, Greenset, in Auckland, New Zealand, 6-12 January 2020.

Defending champion:

Julia Goerges (2) who defeated qualifier Bianca Andreescu 2-6 7-5 6-1


Final result:


- Serena Williams (1) defeated Jessica Pegula 6-3 6-4


Williams moves up a spot to #9 in the rankings, while Pegula jumps 18 places to #64, nearing her career high.


Williams paired with good friend Caroline Wozniacki in the doubles but they failed to win the final, losing to debut winning team Asia Muhammad and Taylor Townsend.

Novak Djokovic (Serbia) defeated Rafa Nadal (Spain) 6-2 7-6(4)
Novak Djokovic / Viktor Troicki (Serbia) defeated Pablo Carreno Busta / Feliciano Lopez (Spain) 6-3 6-4

Serbia won the inaugural ATP Cup.
