AO - Day 2 - Nadal v Dellien

Third match on RLA on Day Two, 2020 AO was between top seed Rafa Nadal and Hugo Dellien from Bolivia.
Nadal served first, and held comfortably.
Dellien led 40-15, but from there it became difficult, three deuces and two break points, the second converted with a classic Nadal forehand winner.
Surprisingly, the Spaniard had to save break points in his next service game, Saved for him through Dellien errors.

Dellien saw five game points disappear in the fourth game, and deuce visited six times, before the second break point was converted and Nadal led 4-0.
At 5-1, and serving for the set, Nadal had his serve broken, but he won the set 6-2 by taking down the Dellien delivery in response.

For five games of set two, Nadal won 12 of 14 points on serve, Dellien 8 of 9.
In the sixth game, Dellien netted two forehands, hit a forehand wide, and a long backhand completed a break to love for Nadal, who led 4-2.
The break back was immediate. A double fault precipitated a lousy game for the top seed. Forced into forehand error from a terrific return, he was 0-30. Two break points after a Spanish backhand failed. The second was converted and the set was back on serve.

An unhappy Nadal fixed things by winning the last two games and led 6-2 6-3.

The opening game of set three appeared to be a certain break of the Dellien serve, after a forehand return winner, a forehand winner down the line, and a backhand cross court winner, from Nadal.
But Dellien fought off these and two others. A sixth chance was used after a Bolivian backhand found the net.
Nadal was happy enough at this stage, and so determined that he should win the remaining games and exit the arena.

The top seed won 6-2 6-3 6-0.
