Djokovic served first and surrendered just one point in holding. He then broke the Ito serve, after the Japanese player failed to convert a game point. Djokovic broke again in the fourth game, and when he consolidated for the second time, he led 5-0, having dropped just two of fourteen points on serve to that point.
Ito scored one game, but Djokovic kept it to that, serving out the set 6-1, another love game to make it simple and quick - 21 minutes. Set two was more of a competition, Ito preventing Djokovic from breaking serve through the majority of the set, staving off two break points in a third game which went to deuce four times.
At 4-4, Djokovic made the key breakthrough, breaking the Ito serve, and setting himself up to serve it out.
He was successful on the first of two set points and led 6-1 6-4
After winning the first game of set three, Ito proceeded to be broken in games three and five, making it a straightforward task for Djokovic, despite the windy conditions, to win the match 6-1 6-4 6-2.
