Second round 

• Stefanos Tsitsipas (1) v Hubert Hurkacz

After a tremendous Australian Open where he recorded an historic win over Roger Federer in the round of sixteen before finishing as semi finalist, Tsitsipas has struggled for consistency.  Early losses in both Sofia and Rotterdam were not the results to provide confidence coming into Marseille, but the Greek number one was in fine touch from the outset.

In set one, by winning 89% of points on his first serve, and 80% on serve overall, Tsitsipas was never threatened.  Hurkacz, ranked 78, from Poland, was fairly competitive, and held his serve all but once - it was perhaps his backhand that brought him undone and lost him the one service game and the set 6-4.

Set two was more conclusive, with Tsitsipas breaking the Hurkacz serve twice in succession and proceeding to win 6-4 6-2 in a tick under the hour.
