Zverev takes Cologne again

Final decided in Cologne.

2020 Bett1Hulks Championship (2) an ATP 250 tournament, on Hard, Rebound Ace, in Cologne, Germany, 19-25 October 2020.
No defending champion:

This is a new tournament on the ATP calendar

Final:

Alexander Zverev (1) (Germany) v Diego Schwartzman (2) (Argentina)

Schwartzman led Zverev 2-1 in head to head battles leading into this final, the latest being a four set victory to the Argentine in the round of sixteen, 2019 US Open.

The top seed navigated two deuces in the fourth game, and saved a break point in the sixth, but while not definitive from the line, Zverev was holding his serve each time. Not so Schwartzman, who had opened brightly, surrendering just one point in his first two service games.

He was broken in the fifth and seventh games, and Zverev served for the set at 5-2.

Down 15-30, Zverev steadied, winning the next three points and the set 6-2.

The opening of set two was a struggle for Schwartzman, as he saved a break point and needed three game points to finally hold serve.

That was the final success for the second seed as he was broken the next three times he went to the line. Zverev lost just two points on serve for the set as he charged to a comprehensive 6-2 6-1 victory.

Third title for Zverev in 2020 and second in a week in Cologne. 13 titles in his career so far.
