This is a new tournament on the ATP calendar
Final:
Wildcard Marco Cecchinato (Italy) v Laslo Djere (Serbia)
Cecchinato had won both times the two had previously met.
In a nervous start, service breaks were exchanged before things settled and 3-3 was reached in set one.
In the longest game of the set, Cecchinato survived a break point to lead 4-3, but no other drama and a tie break the inevitable conclusion.
Djere jumped to 4-0 and after that points went to serve, the Serbian a set up 7-6(3).
In set one there were two breaks of serve and three break points in total.
Set two was a little different - five breaks of serve from 19 break points.
Djere opened with a hold of serve, not before saving two break points. An exchange of breaks followed.
After Cecchinato held for 2-2, another swapping of breaks, including the sixth game where seven deuces and twenty points occurred. Cecchinato wasted five game points, each a chance to take a 4-2 lead.
In the seventh game Cecchinato saw two break chances evaporate, and games remained on serve.
At 4-5, the Italian saved a match point, and at 5-6, he saved two more. However, the third was too much of a stretch, and Laslo Djere won the day 7-6(3) 7-5.
In his second career final, Djere collected his second title, adding to the Rio Open from February 2019.
