WTA - Dubai

The 2020 WTA Tour moves on to Dubai this week, and signals the return to professional tennis of four time major champion Kim Clijsters, after seven years in retirement.

2020 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships - a WTA Premier tournament, on Hard Decoturf II, in Dubai, UAE, 15-22 February 2020.

Defending champion:

Belinda Bencic who defeated Petra Kvitová (2) 6-3 1-6 6-2


The following players withdrew after entering but before the main draw was published:

 

- Bianca Andreescu replaced by Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova

- Ashleigh Barty replaced by Wang Qiang

- Madison Keys replaced by Barbora Strycova 

- Johanna Konta replaced by Anastasija Sevastova


Sixth seed, Kiki Bertens, was a late withdrawal after the main draw was published, and was replaced by lucky loser Hsieh Su-Wei.

Garbiñe Muguruza was instated as ninth seed and took the place of Bertens in the draw, now seeded to play quarter finals.


Simona Halep, world number 2, is top seed.

The other 7 seeds, including Muguruza, are all in the top 16

The top 2 seeds have first round byes.
