First round in Dubai has commenced, and upsets already including the exit of the reigning champion. Kim Clijsters returned, but was drawn to play Australian Open finalist Garbiñe Muguruza first up. That’s being thrown in at the deep end. However, it brought out some of the best tennis from the Belgian former world number one, and she pushed Muguruza to her best, overall producing one of the best first round matches seen in a long time.
