Titles to Bencic, Rublev, Ostapenko, Murray

Titles were decided in tournaments throughout Europe, and Andy Murray was amongst the winners, announcing his arrival back to regular tournament tennis in the best way possible.

VTB Kremlin Cup - a WTA Premier tournament, on Hard, in Moscow, Russia, 14-20 October 2019.

Defending champion:

Daria Kasatkina (6) who defeated qualifier Ons Jabeur 2-6 7-6(3) 6-4


Final result 

- Wildcard Belinda Bencic (3) defeated Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 3-6 6-1 6-1

The win, her first of the year, moves Bencic from 10th to 7th in the WTA Race, and qualifies her for the WTA Finals in Shenzhen, starting in a week.

Pavlyuchenkova moves up 10 spots in the rankings, to finish the year ranked #30.

Defending champion:

Wildcard Karen Khachanov (3) who defeated Adrian Mannarino 6-2 6-2


Final result 

- Andrey Rublev (6) defeated Adrian Mannarino (7) 6-4 6-0

First title for the year, and second in his career for Rublev, moves him up nine spots to a new career high ranking of #22.

Mannarino was runner up for the second successive year, to another Russian.


European Open - an ATP 250 tournament, on Hard Greenset, in Antwerp, Belgium, 14-20 October 2019.

Defending champion:

Kyle Edmund (1) who defeated Gaël Monfils (6) 3-6 7-6(2) 7-6(4)


Final result 

- Andy Murray defeated wildcard Stan Wawrinka (4) 3-6 6-4 6-4

The win moves Murray up 116 spots to a ranking of #127.

Wawrinka is up a place to #17.


BGL BNP Paribas Luxembourg Open - a WTA International tournament, on Hard Decoturf on Wood, in Luxembourg, Luxembourg, 14-20 October 2019.

Defending champion:

Julia Goerges (1) who defeated qualifier Belinda Bencic 6-4 7-5


Final result 

- Wildcard Jelena Ostapenko defeated defending champion Julia Goerges (2) 6-4 6-1

Ostapenko’s first title of 2019 propels her 17 places to a year end ranking of #46.

Goerges drops two places to finish the year at #28.


Intrum Stockholm Open - an ATP 250 tournament, on Hard Greenset, in Stockholm, Sweden, 13-21 October 2019.

Defending champion:

Stefanos Tsitsipas (3) who defeated qualifier Ernests Gulbis 6-4 6-4


Final result 

- Denis Shapovalov (4) defeated Filip Krajinovic 6-4 6-4

This was the Canadian’s first ATP title, and it moves him seven places up to #27.

Krajinovic has improved 14 spots to #46.
