Paris - Masters 1000 - 1st round starts

First round started in the Paris Masters 1000,

Rolex Paris Masters - an ATP Masters 1000 tournament, on Hard GreenSet on boards, in Paris, France, 28 October - 3 November 2019.

Defending champion:

Karen Khachanov who defeated Novak Djokovic (2) 7-5 6-4

The following players were late withdrawals after the main draw was published

- Guido Pella replaced by lucky loser Damir Dzumhur

- Richard Gasquet replaced by lucky loser Corentin Moutet

Third seed Roger Federer was another late withdrawal, uninjured, but saving himself for the Nitto ATP Finals in London.

A big disappointment for fans who had purchased tickets expecting to see Federer play.

He was replaced by lucky loser Andreas Seppi.

The beneficiary is Alexander Zverev (6) who was expected to meet Federer in a quarter final.

That player will likely now be Gaël Monfils, if they both reach the final eight.

Another player licking their lips is Rafa Nadal. The second seed was included in all PR as half of a potential big semi final with Federer.
