Barty is unable to defend her title as she will be playing next week in Shenzhen, attempting to retain her #1 ranking at year end

- Aryna Sabalenka (4) defeated Kiki Bertens (1) 6-4 6-2
This was the third title of 2019 for Sabalenka, the first coming at the very start in January in Shenzhen, the second a Premier 5 trophy in Wuhan in September. All three captured in China.
Sabalenka will end the year ranked #11, the same as where she began, although she did spend some time as high as #9, her career peak.
Bertens had victories in St Petersburg in February and Madrid in May, Premier and Premier Mandatory respectively. Her second half of 2019 was less successful, with three losing finals,
Bertens began the year ranked #9 and reached her career high of #4 after Madrid. However, she slipped back later and she will end the year back at #9.

This was the fourth title for Thiem this year, the biggest being the Indian Wells Masters 1000 in March where he defeated Federer in the final.

Federer’s fourth title for 2019 was also his 10th Basel triumph.
He now moves ahead of Medvedev into third position in the ATP Race ahead of Paris and the ATP Finals.
de Minaur jumps to a career high of #18 in the world rankings.
