WTA - Wuhan 1R start

First round commenced in Wuhan.

2024 Dongfeng Voyah Wuhan Open, a WTA 1000 tournament, on Hard Outdoor, Wuhan, China, 7-13 October 2024.

The last edition of the Wuhan Open was in 2019.
It wasn’t held in 2020 due to COVID, and hadn’t been held again until now,

2019 defending champion:
Aryna Sabalenka (9) who defeated Alison Riske 6-3 3-6 6-1

Lulu Sun withdrew after the main draw was published due to a hip injury, and was replaced by lucky loser Erika Andreeva.
Peyton Stearns withdrew after the main draw was published due to a foot injury, and was replaced by lucky loser Clara Burel.
Karolina Muchova withdrew after the main draw was published, and was replaced by lucky loser Kamilla Rakhimova.
14th seed Paula Badosa withdrew after the main draw was published, and was replaced by lucky loser Lucia Bronzetti.
