Lamens wins 1st title in Osaka

Final day in Osaka.
Including semi finals postponed the day before due to persistent rain.

2024 Kinoshita Group Japan Open Tennis Championships, a WTA 250 tournament, on Hard Outdoor, Osaka, Japan, 14-20 October 2024.

Defending champion:
Ashlyn Krueger who defeated Zhu Lin (1) 6-3 7-6(6)

Semi  final results:

Qualifier Kimberly Birrell defeated qualifier Aoi Ito 6-4 6-3
Qualifier Suzan Lamens defeated Diane Parry (7) 6-2 6-4

Final:

Qualifier Suzan Lamens (Netherlands) v qualifier Kimberly Birrell (Australia)

The players had never met previously.
Neither had reached a final at WTA Tour level.

In this final, Lamens held serve each of three times in set one, without facing a break point.

Birrell was broken all of the three times she served, and Lamens took the set 6-0.

Service breaks were exchanged in games one and two of set two.
Lamens saved two break points in game three and held for 2-1.

Birrell broke in game five to lead 3-2.
Lamens broke back immediately and levelled at 3-3.

Serving at 4-5 to stay in the match, Birrell was broken.

Suzan Lamens won the match 6-0 6-4, claiming her first WTA Tour title
