Fils wins Japan Open

Final day in Tokyo.

2024 Kinoshita Group Japan Open Championships, an ATP 500 tournament, on Hard Outdoor, Tokyo, Japan, 25 September - 1 October 2024.

Defending champion:
Ben Shelton who defeated Aslan Karatsev 7-5 6-1

Final:

Arthur Fils (France) v Ugo Humbert (France)

Humbert won all three previous meetings between the players, including two this year,
the most recent being Canada Masters 1000 first round in Montreal. 

Fils broke serve in game five of set one, and led 3-2.
Humbert broke back immediately and levelled at 3-3.

Humbert saved a break point in game nine and held for 5-4.
Fils served to stay in the set and held for 5-5.

Humbert saved three break points in game eleven and held for 6-5.
Serving to stay in the set, Fils was broken and Humbert took the set 7-5.

Fils saved three break points in game eight of set two, and held for 4-4.
No other break chances arose before a tie break was required.

Fils won the tie break and set 7-6(6).

Humbert saved a break point in game two of the decider and held for 1-1.
He also saved a break point in game six and held for 3–3.

Fils broke in game eight and led 5-3.

Arthur Fils served out the match 5-7 7-6(6) 6-3 and claimed the title.

Title number three, and first since Hamburg in July this year.
