Shnaider wins title in Budapest

Final day in Budapest.

2024 Hungarian Grand Prix, a WTA 250 tournament, on Clay, Budapest, Hungary, 15-21 July 2024

Defending champion:
Lucky loser Maria Timofeeva who defeated Kateryna Baindl 6-3 3-6 6-0

Final:

Diana Shnaider (1) (Russia) v Aliaksandra Sasnovich (Belarus)

In the only previous match between the players, Shnaider won in qualifying for Doha this year.
Fifth final for Sasnovich, and still looking for first title at WTA Tour level.

Breaks of serve were exchanged in the first two games of the final.
Shnaider broke serve in the fourth game to lead 3-1.

Two more breaks of serve followed and Shnaider led 4-2.

Serving for the set at 5-3, Shnaider was broken by Sasnovich.

Serving at 4-5 to stay in the set, Sasnovich was broken, and Shnaider won the set 6-4.

The players exchanged service breaks in games two and three of set two.
They did the same in games seven and eight, and scores were level at 4-4.

Serving at 4-5 to stay in the match, Sasnovich was broken, and Shnaider won 6-4 6-4.

Title number three for Shnaider, all this year, following Hua Hin in February and Bad Homburg in June,
