Nishioka wins Atlanta Open

Nishioka saved two break points in game five of the opening set.

He held and led 3-2, games on serve.

Thompson broke serve in game nine to lead 5-4.

He then served out the set 6-4.

Nishioka saved three break points in game five of set two, and held.

Thompson did the same in the following game. 

It was 3-3.

Thompson served at 4-5 to stay in the set.

After a long rain delay, Thompson held serve.

No more break chances in the set, and a tie break required.

Nishioka won the tie break and the set 7-6(2).

Nishioka broke serve in the opening game of the decider.

He saved a break point in the following game before holding, and led 2-0.

Nishioka saved three break points in game four and held for 3-1.

He then broke serve and led 4-1.

Nishioka saved a break point and held for 5-1.

Thompson served at 1-5 to stay in the match and held.

Nishioka served out the match 4-6 7-6(2) 6-2.

Title number three for Yoshihito Nishioka, and first since Korea Ooen in September 2022.
