Putintseva won four of the five previous matches between the players, including the most recent:
2022 Istanbul quarter final.
Putintseva lost just one point on serve for the whole of set one.
Meanwhile she broke the Tomljanovic serve three times.
The set was won 6-1.
Service breaks were exchanged in games two and three of set two.
Tomljanovic broke in the seventh game to lead 4-3.
Putintseva broke back when Tomljanovic served for the set at 5-4.
At set point, Tomljanovic served three straight double faults.
A tie break was required.
Putintseva won the tie break and the match 6-1 7-6(8).
Title number three for Putintseva, and first since Budapest in July 2021.
