Djokovic wins Olympic gold medal

Novak Djokovic (1) (Serbia) v Carlos Alcaraz (2) (Spain)

The players had met six times previously, and the results were split 3-3.
Alcaraz won the most recent encounter which was the 2024 Wimbledon final.

Alcaraz saved a break point in game two of the opening set, and held.

He saved another two break points in game four and held for 2-2.
Djokovic saved three break points in the following game and held for 3-2.

In game nine Djokovic saved five break points.
He held for 5-4.

Alcaraz served to stay in the set and held for 5-5.
He served at 5-6, again to stay in the set.
Alcaraz saved a set point, then held, forcing a tie break.

Djokovic won the tie break and the set 7-6(3).

Alcaraz saved a break point in game three of set two, and held for 2-1.

Djokovic served at 4-5 to stay in the set and held.

He served at 5-6, again to stay in the set.
Djokovic held and forced a tie break.

Novak Djokovic won the tie break and the match 7-6(3) 7-6(2), collecting a gold medal for Serbia.

Carlos Alcaraz won silver for Spain.
