Final:
Stefanos Tsitsipas (1) (Greece) v Alexander Zverev (2) (Germany)
Tsitsipas started better, breaking the German’s opening serve and leading 4-1, with two break points for 5-1.
However, Zverev steadied, held serve, and won 12 of the next 15 points.
Serving for the set, Zverev saved a break point before sealing it 6-4.
Eight games sailed by in set two without blemish on either service record, the only two break points saved by Tsitsipas.
Zverev broke in the ninth game, but failed to convert a match point in the tenth, and Tsitsipas seized the opportunity, levelling at 5-5.
In the eventual tie break, Zverev raced to 6-2, and he needed only the second of his four more match points to take the title 6-4 7-6(3).
It was the 14th title from 23 finals for Zverev. Despite his performances over the past 52 weeks, including capturing the ATP Finals trophy in November last year, the flawed current rankings system has him still placed behind Federer who in the same period has played just two matches.
