Djokovic’s Chinese run continues

The titles of the past week have been won as follows:


ATP Shanghai 


The Rolex Shanghai Masters 1000 trophy was won for the fourth time by Novak Djokovic (2) who defeated Borna Coric (13) 6-3 6-4.

Djokovic has closed to within 215 points of Rafa Nadal and the world number one ranking, and just 35 points behind the Spaniard in the 2018 ATP Race.

Borna Coric has achieved a career high ranking of 13.


WTA Tianjin 


The Tianjin Open was captured by Caroline Garcia (2), winning 7-6(7) 6-3 against Karolina Pliskova (1).

Garcia moves up four spots to 12 in the rankings, while Pliskova is up one place to number five.  Karolina has also enhanced her prospects of making the WTA Finals in Singapore at the end of the month.


WTA Hong Kong


Teenager Dayana Yastremska won her first WTA title in her debut final, crushing Qiang Wang (6) 6-2 6-1, to take home the Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open.

Jumping 36 places to 66 in the world rankings, Dayana is the second woman born in this millennium to win a WTA trophy, Olga Danilovic the other.


WTA Linz 


Camila Giorgi (5) captured her second WTA title, and first since June 2015, when she defeated qualifier Ekaterina Alexandrova 6-3 6-1 in the final of the Upper Austria Ladies Linz.

Giorgi had previously made the final in Linz in 2014, losing to Karolina Pliskova.
