Potapova wins Transylvania Open

Final day in Cluj-Napoca.

2025 Transylvania Open, a WTA 250 tournament, on Hard Indoor, Cluj-Napoca, Romania, 3-9 February 2025.

2024 champion (not defending):
Karolina Pliskova who defeated Ana Bogdan (8) 6-4 6-3

Final:

Anastasia Potapova (1) (Russia) v Lucia Bronzetti (Italy)

Potapova won all four previous matches between the players.
This included two in 2024.

Potapova saved a break point in both games one and three of set one.
She held each time and led 2-1.

Service breaks were exchanged in games six and seven.
Potapova led 4-3.

Bronzetti saved two break points in game eight.
She held and levelled at 4-4.

Bronzetti broke in the ninth game to lead 5-4.
She served out the set 6-4.

Both players saved a break point in the opening games of set two.
Each held and it was 1-1.

Potapova broke in game four to lead 3-1.
She broke again in game six to lead 5-1.

Potapova served out the set 6-1.

Potapova broke serve in the opening game of the decider.
Bronzetti saved five break points in game five, but couldn’t save a sixth.
Potapova broke to lead 4-1.

Bronzetti served at 1-5 to stay in the match.
She held for 2-5.

Anastasia Potapova served out the match 4-6 6-1 6-2.

Title number three, and first since 2023 Linz Open in Austria.
