Kartal wins 1st title in Monastir

Final day in Monastir.

2024 Jasmin Open Tunisia, a WTA 250 tournament, on Hard Outdoor, Monastir, Tunisia, 9-15 September 2024

Defending champion:
Elise Mertens (2) who defeated Jasmine Paolini (1) 6-3 6-0

Final:

Qualifier Sonay Kartal (Great Britain) v Rebecca Sramkova (Slovakia)

Sramkova won the only previous match between the players:
Second round ITF Circuit tournament in Bath, February 2023.

First final at WTA Tour level for either player.

The players exchanged service breaks in the first two games of set one.
The score was 1-1.
They exchanged breaks of serve again in games four and five.
Kartal led 3-2, games on serve.

Kartal broke serve in game eight to lead 5-3.
She served out the set 6-3.

Kartal broke the Sramkova serve in game one of set two.
She broke again in game five to lead 4-1.

Sramkova retrieved one of the breaks in the following game, and trailed 2-4.
She then saved a break point and held for 3-4.

Two breaks of serve followed, leaving Kartsl ahead 5-4.
Serving for the match, Kartal was broken. 5-5.

Sramkova was broken in game eleven and trailed 5-6.

Sonay Kartal served out the match 6-3 7-5, to claim her first WTA Tour title.
