Anisimova in 1st WTA semi final

The second round in Quebec City was finalised on 13 September 2014, and the quarter finals in Hiroshima were played on 14 September 2014.

Quebec City

Second round 

• Wildcard Rebecca Marino defeated Georgina Garcia Perez 6-7(3) 6-2 6-4, and she will play Heather Watson in the quarter finals 
• Sofia Kenin (5) defeated wildcard Francoise Abanda 6-4 6-4, and she will play Monica Puig in the quarter finals 
• Qualifier Jessica Pegula defeated Ons Jabeur 7-6(3) 6-4
• Petra Martic (2) defeated Olga Govortsova 6-0 6-2, and she will play Jessica Pegula in the quarter finals

Quarter finals

• Shuai Zhang (1) defeated Zarina Diyas (6) 6-4 7-5
• Qualifier Amanda Anisimova defeated Anna Karolina Schmiedlova 6-3 6-1, and she will play Shuai Zhang in the semis

If Anisimova wins her semi final, she will crack the top 100 for the first time, and join 13 other women from the USA currently there.  At 17 she would be the youngest of the 100.  Irrespective,  she will achieve a new career ranking thanks to her break through performance here.

• Qiang Wang (4) defeated Magda Linette (8) 6-2 6-2

The quarter final between Ajla Tomljanovic (5) and Su-Wei Hsieh (2) was suspended due to rain.  The winner of that match will play Qiang Wang in the semis
