Cincinnati Masters 1000

This week, Cincinnati is hosting the best players in the world with the Western & Southern Open.
It has both the WTA Premier 5 category tournament, and the ATP Masters 1000 event.

Defending champion:

Novak Djokovic (10) who defeated Roger Federer (2) 6-4 6-4


The following players withdrew after entering but before the main draw was published:


- Kevin Anderson replaced by Lorenzo Sonego 

- Juan Martin del Potro replaced by Jordan Thompson 

- Milos Raonic replaced by Grigor Dimitro


The following players withdrew after the main draw was published:

- Rafa Nadal (2) replaced by lucky loser Mikhail Kukushkin (fatigue)

Kukushkin takes Nadal’s spot in the draw, and inherits the first round bye which Nadal would have enjoyed as second seed.


Novak Djokovic, world number 1, is top seed.

The other seeds are all in the top 19

The top 7 seeds (1 and 3-8) have first round byes


First round results 

- John Isner (13) defeated Dusan Lajovic 7-6(3) 1-6 7-5

- Alex de Minaur defeated Marco Cecchinato 6-7(5) 6-1 6-2
