France (4) v Belgium 3-1  FRANCE WON

Romania has upset defending champions the Czech Republic on opposition turf, with the final match, the doubles, clinching the tie.

Simona Halep gave her country the chance, by winning her second singles match, against Karolina Pliskova, in a three set thriller.

And the team of Irina-Camelia Begu and Monica Niculescu came from a set down to defeat Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova (the top two world ranked doubles players)

Romania now has a semi final date with France, another away clash.
