Azarenka while you blinked

Vika Azarenka, seeded 14, is my pick to foil Serena Williams and win the 2016 Aus Ooen.  Her first round opponent on night two Rod Laver Arena was Belgian Alison Van Uytvanck, ranked 43.

Really not much to say about this match because there was no match - Azarenka did not relinquish a game, winning 53 points to 19, committing only 7 unforced errors compared to hapless Alison's 29 and generally doing whatever she pleased, underscoring how dangerous her output is coming into this tournament.

Vika crushed Kerber in Brisbane without mercy, and one of her weapons of choice there was her wicked forehand.  She used it at will again tonight.

The only further comment to make is that this is not the true form of Van Uytvanck.  A shame for the crowd that Azarenka turned the potential clash into a pure exhibition of her own wares.

My prediction remains and the sharp shooting of Vika, 6-0 6-0, however disappointing from a contest point of view, is an indication of her potency at Melbourne Park.
